Senior Citizen is a person of over sixty years of age.

A substandard asset would be one, which has remained NPA for a period
less than or equal to 12 months.

Equality of two matrices

Two matrices are said to be equal if and only if they have the same order and the corresponding elements are equal.

Transpose of a matrix

The matrix obtained by interchanging the rows to columns and columns to rows is called transpose of that matrix.

Matrix - Square, Scalar, Symmetric, Skew symmetric

Square matrix
If the number of rows and columns are equal then the matrix is called a square matrix.

Scalar Matrix
A square matrix in which all the elements in the main diagonal are equal and the rest of the elements are zero.

Symmetric Matrix
If the transpose of matrix is equal to matrix itself then the matrix is called symmetric matrix.

Skew symmetric matrix
If the transpose of a matrix is equal to the additive inverse of the given matrix then the given matrix is called skew symmetric matrix.

Unity or Identity Matrix

A square matrix whose main diagonal elements are all unity and the other elements are zero is called a unity or identity matrix.

Null Matrix

A matrix of any order whose all elements are zero is called a null matrix.

Column Matrix

If there is only one column in a matrix, it is called column matrix.

Rectangular matrix & Row matrix

Rectangular matrix
If the number of rows is not equal to the number of columns then the matrix is called a rectangular matrix.

Row matrix
If there is only one row in a matrix, it is called row matrix.

Perfect number

A number for which the sum of all its factors is twice the number itself is called a perfect number.

Proportion

The equality of two ratios is called a proportion.

Ratio

If two quantities expressed in the same units are compared by division the result obtained is called a ratio.

Triangle

A closed figure with three sides is called a triangle
or
Area formed by joining three points not lying on a line.

Obtuse angled triangle

A triangle in which one of the angle is an obtuse (one angle > 90 degree) is called an obtuse angled triangle.

Acute angled triangle

A triangle in which all the three angles are acute is called an acute angled triangle.

Right angled triangle

A triangle in which one of the angle is a right angle (90 degree) is called a right angled triangle.

Scalene triangle

A triangle in which no two sides are equal is called a scalene triangle.

Isosceles triangle

A triangle is said to be isosceles triangle if and only if its any two sides are equal and different from third side.

Equilateral triangle

A triangle is said to be equilateral triangle if and only if all the sides  are equal to each other.

Congruent

If two quantities have the same shape and size then these two quantities are said to be congruent to each other

An adjective clause is a group of which contains a subject and a predicate of its own and does the work of an adjective

Repossession

Password

banking service. It is also used for identification.

Overdue


Any amount due to the bank under any credit facility is ‘overdue’ if it is not
paid on the due date fixed by the bank.

Out-of-date (stale) cheque


A cheque, which has not been paid because the date written on the cheque
is a date exceeding three months from the time of its presentation.

No Frills’ Account


‘No Frills ‘account is a basic banking account. Such account requires
either nil balance or very low minimum balance. Charges applicable to
such accounts are low. Services available to such account are limited.

Merchant Services



Merchant services generally refer to merchant accounts allowed to trading
and service establishments for acceptance of payments through credit/
debit cards. The cards may be accepted over the counter through card
terminals i.e. Point of Sale (POS) machines or over phone or through internet.

Mail is a letter in a physical or electronic form.

Letter of Credit


A letter of credit is a document issued by a bank, which usually provides an
irrevocable undertaking for payment to a beneficiary against submission of
documents as stated in the Letter of Credit.

Diagonal of a polygon

 The line which joins two non-consecutive vertices is known as diagonal of a polygon.

Regular Polygon

The polygon in which all sides are equal and each interior and exterior angles are equal.

Exterior angle of polygon

The angle which is obtained by producing any one of the side of polygon is called an exterior angle of a polygon.

Concave Polygon


The polygon whose atleast one angle is more than 180 degree is called a concave polygon.

Convex Polygon


The polygon whose each angle is less than 180 degree is called a convex polygon.

Odd Number

Numbers which leave a remainder 1 when divided by 2 are called odd numbers

Even Number

Numbers which leave a remainder 0 when divided by 2 are called even numbers.

Prime Number

A natural number other than 1 is said to be prime number if it has no factors other than 1 and itself.

Composite Number

A natural number other than 1 which is not a prime number is called a composite number.

Passive Voice

A verb is in the passive voice when its form shows that something is done to the person or thing denoted by the subject.

A verb is in the active voice when its form shows that the person or thing denoted by the subject does something

Permanent Account Number (PAN)


The Permanent Account Number (PAN) is an all India unique Number having
ten alphanumeric characters allotted by the Income Tax Department, Government of India. It is issued in the form of a laminated card. It is permanent and will not change with change of address of the assessee or change of Assessing Officer.

Payment and Settlement System means financial system creating the means
for transferring money between suppliers and user of funds usually by
exchanging debits or credits among financial institutions.

Real Time Gross Settlement


The acronym ‘RTGS’ stands for Real Time Gross Settlement. RTGS system
offers the fastest means of transfer of funds through banking channel.
Settlement of transactions under RTGS takes place on one-to-one basis,
which is termed as ‘Gross’ settlement and in ‘real time’ i.e. without any
waiting period.

Reference rate


It is the benchmark rate of interest of a bank to which interest on loans
sanctioned under floating rate of interest is linked. The Reference Rate
of interest is determined/modified by individual banks in accordance with
their policies.

Security


Represents assets used as support for a loan or other liability. In the event

An organisation which collects payments from a customer’s account in line
with customer’s instructions.

‘Out of Order’ status


An account should be treated as ‘out of order’ if the outstanding balance
remains continuously in excess of the sanctioned limit/drawing power. In
cases where the outstanding balance in the principal operating account is
less than the sanctioned limit/drawing power, but there are no credits
continuously for 90 days as on the date of Balance Sheet or credits are not
enough to cover the interest debited during the same period, these accounts
should be treated as ‘out of order’.

knows), which may be used for identification when using accounts.
